Casino Everest record easy win

KATHMANDU: Sanjay Shrestha and Arun Chand struck half centuries as Casino Everest hammered Everest Bank by 136 runs while Casino Royale eased to a comfortable 54-run win over Casino Shangri-La during the UWTC Inter-corporate Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here today.
Batting first, Casino Everest scored 193-3 in 20 overs before restricting Everest Bank for 57 in 16.2 overs. Sanjay scored an explosive 67 while Arun made quickfire 54 unbeaten runs. Sanjay hit five sixes and seven fours in his 29-ball knock while Arun struck nine boundaries in his 39-ball innings. Shakar Thapa also chipped in 17 and Roshan Bam 16 runs. Bipin Koirala, Bishal Dahal and Swastik Subedi took one wicket each for Everest Bank.
Everest Bank in reply were shut out for 57 with Yogesh Shrestha (22) contributing almost half his team’s total. Rajeev Saud was the pick of the Casino Everest bowlers with 3-4. Man of the match Sanjay Shrestha, Chatur Bahadur Chand and Bedendra Gupta also claimed two wickets each. The win lifts Casino Everest on top of the Group ‘B’ with four points from two matches. Everest Bank have three points followed by Sunrise Bank with one.
In another match, Casino Royale were bowled out for 120 in 18.5 overs but defended the total restricting Casino Shangri-La for 66 runs in 14.1 overs. Dipeshwor Manandhar top scored for Casino Royale with run-a-ball 27. Anil Kumar Chhetri also contributed 22 and Tara Joshi not out 16. Puran Chand and Kumar Acharya bagged two wickets each while KP Dahal and Bikash Bhujel supported with one wicket apiece for Casino Shangri-La.
Casino Shangri-La were never in contention after losing wickets in regular intervals. Puskar Nath Yogi top scored with 13 and Subash Jung Thakuri made 10. Hari grabbed 4-10 off 3.1 overs which earned him the man of the match award. Ram Joshi also picked out two and Amit Khadka one wicket for Casino Royale.
Nepal Telecom will meet Casino Shangri-La and Bank of Kathmandu will play Everest Casino on Thursday.
